Guadix February 2007
As one of Spain’s newest tracks Circuit De Guadix is an innovative track. It is technically challenging with enough changes to keep the best riders excited and was designed by owner Clive who raced cars professionally in the Lamborghini Diablo SV cup F3 and Porsche cup. He was also a test and development driver for TVR and he has managed to build one of the best bike & car tracks available. Guadix is now being used for testing by Austin Martin, BSB, WSB & MCN among others; the track has a lot to offer as the riders found out first hand earlier this year for a training and development track attack presented by NDM in sunny Spain.

NDM’s Steve Harnett chats to Alan Connor prior to taking to the track.
Spain is the perfect setting to kick off the bike year it’s the perfect biking climate and atmosphere to get ahead and build bike riding skills in a technically challenged but safe environment. It all started out when the guys and gals arrived at the circuit located high in the mountains in the sunny south of Spain to be greeted by the instructors, organizers, technicians and track owner at the circuit on a very pleasant morning.
The location and condition of the track is absolutely stunning. You only have to see it to get excited to get out there it just looks so good. With the surrounding snow capped mountains you can hardly believe such a place exists - its like bike heaven floating on a cloud.

After introductions we all attended the briefing held above the pit garages overlooking the track where things make a lot of sense as we wore briefed on the tracks rules procedures and general guide to the complex in full view of the circuit. Afterwards everybody got to do some sighting laps before the days sessions got started.

Groups were then formed and then everyone got back out to be assessed by the instructor Woolsey coulter and technicians Steven Harnett and John Preston. Not only on technique and rider ability but also on the bikes behavior and performance on track location lines ECT. Once assessed every rider got one on one tuition via radio, this is the best way because its real time training and gets straight to the point as things happen. And with live coaching around the track you would be surprised how quick riders advance! So after a really laid back no pressure but exiting morning the really warm but pleasant temperatures crept in. Half way through the day we then broke for lunch which was an absolutely cracking barbecue and a chance to relax and prepare for the second half of the day. With lots of track time this is a well deserved chance to recharge and chat about your day so far.

Track sessions go till late afternoon around 5:30-6:00pm then a night out at a local restaurant for a nice meal and of course some petrol fuelled banter. And for those participating in both days it was just double the fun, I just can’t wait for the next one this coming Feb.
See you there NDM!
